English Department FBS UNP Hosted the 1st International Conference on Foreign Languages and Instruction (ICFLI) 2024

Padang, Indonesia—The Department of English Language and Literature at Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP) held the inaugural International Conference on Foreign Languages and Instruction (ICFLI) on October 17-18, 2024. The event took place at the UNP Hotel, Kampus Air Tawar, and was officially opened by Vice Rector IV, Dr.rer.nat. Deski Beri, S.Si., M.Si., representing the Rector of UNP.

This international gathering brought together experts from various countries to explore new insights and advancements in foreign language education. Distinguished keynote speakers included Prof. Madya. Dr. Raihanah Mohd Mydin from University Kebangsaan Malaysia, Lu Bich Thao, MA from Vietnam National University, Dr. Havid Ardi, M.Hum from Universitas Negeri Padang, Soe Marlar Lwin, Ph.D from Singapore University of Social Sciences, Supong Tangkiengsirisin, Ph.D from Thammasat University, and Naufal Azzuhdi from Universitas Negeri Padang.

The conference featured seven sub-themes, addressing crucial topics such as global issues in language instruction, foreign language pedagogy and assessment, the role of foreign languages in instruction, Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), applicable research, linguistic theory, and the intersections of language, literature, and culture.

ICFLI 2024 provided a platform for educators, researchers, and language professionals to engage in discussions and share research aimed at advancing foreign language instruction and cross-cultural understanding. (HY/RY)
